A little bit of film...

I've been attempting to use my Diana a little the past few weeks and have loved the challenge of using film. Holgas and Dianas are famous for creating heavily vignetted lomographic images that are subject to light streaks and strange exposures. It's a quirky camera that creates interesting and dynamic images, that's for sure! I love the grain on the black and white shots. It's definitely a new area for me, but it's been fun to dabble in this summer! :)

Shot on a Diana F+ with Kodak Pro T-Max 400 film and FUGI Pro 400H.

I grew up on the East Coast...and because of that, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to landscapes and the general beauty of the world around me. No offense to you mid-westerners, but you don't even know what green is until you visit Virginia or Pennsylvania in the springtime. I won't even mention the fact that East Coast autumns make Utah's look black and white TV.

Nevertheless.

I have come to realize that Utah can be quite beautiful. In fact, it can be quite breathtaking. As evidenced by these photos of Utah Valley on a glorious summer's day. I have never seen such beautiful clouds.

Who knew! I'm kinda in love with Utah these days! ;)

Tribute to Provo's most famous hot "dawg" stand.

If you live in Utah and haven't tried J-Dawg's, stop what you are doing and head on over to 858 N. 700 E. Provo, UT for a little bit of heaven on a bun. I know, I know, it seems a little weird to go to a restaurant for a hot dog, but I'm telling you - it's not just a hot dog. It's a massive piece of spicy beef smothered in their famous special sauce (which, by the way, you can purchase by-the-bottle for about $10) and topped off with such condiments as a dill pickle, banana peppers, relish, etc. I prefer to go the "ketchup-only" route, but that's just me. ;) We were very happy campers after our little J-Dawg's excursion...if you couldn't already tell by the last picture.

If you've ever photographed a two-year-old boy, you'll understand what I mean when I say it can be quite the workout! There is a lot of chasing and rolling on the ground with a shoot like this, but I can honestly say I always have so much fun! This little guy was a complete sweetheart...I loved the way he clung onto "Sheriff Woody" the whole time. I love when my clients are able to find a way to make their session more personal and memorable...and what better way than allowing your son to carry his favorite toy? Thank you to this sweet family for driving all the way from Payson, UT for this mini-session...I'm glad it didn't rain until we were finished!

Beautiful, beautiful couple. They are so natural in front of the camera and so in love with each other, the pictures practically took themselves! Stay tuned for their fabulous LA wedding to be posted in a few weeks...here's a little teaser to tide you over until then. :)
