I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
~William Wordsworth, "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud," 1804
My niece and nephews brought me these lilacs today. I couldn't stop smiling. I popped them in a little vase as soon as I got home and have admired them all evening. Is there anything sweeter than a fresh-off-the-bush handpicked flower from a small child? I love this poem by William Wordsworth...I know it's about daffodils, but I think it so eloquently describes how I feel about spring. The lilacs in Utah are in full bloom and seem to be "tossing their heads in sprightly dance"!

ReplyDeleteyou made them look even prettier, your amazing. love the poem.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower who found you via Facebook. LOVE your fresh style! I hope it's okay to use your gorgeous lilacs to accompany a tribute to my parents on my blogspot. When I saw it, I knew it was perfect, and our lilacs are way past blooming here in STL. I gave you credit in the post. Please let me know if you'd prefer that I remove the collage. Thanks so much. And blessings!
